ESUSD Significant Accomplishments 2023-2024
El Segundo Unified School District (ESUSD)
Successfully ranked in the Top 20 out of roughly 1000 school districts in California on Niche 2024 ratings, as one of the best school districts in California with an overall Niche Grade of A+.
Successfully earned the highest ranking on the California Dashboard which reports the District’s English Language Arts achievement as Very High and Mathematics as Very High.
Successfully kicked off ESUSD AI Leadership and Literacy Initiative, which resulted in approval of one of the first Emerging Technology Board Policies in the nation.
Successfully selected to be one of ten school districts in the nation to be part of the GenAI Working Group with Digital Promise.
Successfully selected to be one of twelve school districts in the nation to be part of the ED SAFE AI Alliance.
Successfully completed construction and dedicated three new buildings during this school year: El Segundo Middle School Gymnasium, Richmond Street School Classroom Building and El Segundo High School Band and Community-Based Instruction Building.
Successfully opened FLIGHT program, a special education adult transition program age 18 to 22. First student graduated from the program as well.
Successfully opened Wellness Centers at both secondary schools.
Successfully adopted a new Joint Agreement for Recreational Facilities with the City of El Segundo.
Center Street and Richmond Street Schools:
Successfully earned California Democracy School Awards for students’ civic engagement.
Successfully earned Project Lead the Way Distinguished School.
El Segundo Middle School:
Successfully earned California Democracy School Awards for students’ civic engagement.
El Segundo High School:
Successfully remained in the top 3% in the United States on the U.S. News and World Report Best High Schools.
Successfully earned Advanced Placement School Honor Roll Gold Distinction and Advanced Placement Access Award.
Successfully earned Project Lead the Way Distinguished School.

Personnel:
Ali Rabiei was named the Association of California School Administrators Co-Administrator of the Year for the State.
Dr. Phuong Uzoff is one of six teachers in the state of California to be selected for a Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and Science in California 2024 and receive an appointment to the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing.
