COVID 19 Updates

ESUSD COVID-19 Related Communication Updates - 2023-2024 School Year:

  • Schools will only send Covid Exposure Notices to  employees if they have been exposed to a known  COVID-19 case in the workplace.

  • Please notify the school and the district nurse (lnystrom@esusd.net) if your child tests positive for influenza (Flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), COVID-19, and other respiratory illnesses. Email the child’s first and last name, date for test result, date for symptom onset, and last date on campus. The District nurse will send you a COVID-19 Isolation Timeline.   • Covid-19 isolation guidelines students: 

    • Individuals with COVID-19 with symptoms: Individuals who have COVID-19 and are experiencing symptoms shall stay home away from others until fever free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication AND other symptoms are mild and improving. Masks are required to leave isolation before 10 days from when symptoms began or the date of their first positive test, when around other people. You can remove your mask sooner if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. 

    •  Individuals with COVID-19 without symptoms: Individuals who have COVID-19 and are not experiencing symptoms are not required to isolate provided they wear a well-fitting, high-quality respiratory mask whenever around other people. You can remove your mask sooner if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart.

  • Staff and students can have access to COVID-19 tests and masks at the school health office

  • NOW AVAILABLE: UPDATED COVID-19 and FLU VACCINE 

    The updated COVID-19 and flu vaccine are available at retail pharmacies, health care provider offices and Public Health locations across Los Angeles County.

    WHO SHOULD GET VACCINATED FOR COVID-19 VACCINE?

    Everyone 6 months and older should get at least one dose of the updated COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine will provide enhanced protection against COVID-19, even if you’ve already been vaccinated, have had COVID-19 or have never been vaccinated against the virus.

    COVID 19 Safety Plan
    The COVID 19 Safety Plan is required by the California Department of Public Health. It consists of the following two (2) documents: The COVID Prevention Plan (CPP) and the COVID 19 School Guidance Checklist. 

Prevention Program (CPP)
This document was developed pursuant to an Emergency Temporary Standard in pace for COVID-19, California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, Section 9, section 3205(c). This document is consistent with the ESUSD School Reopening Plan (above), CDC guidelines, and health updates from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
