ESUSD Superintendent Melissa Moore distributed this message via email to parents, ESUSD employees and the community on 04/23/21.
Dear ESUSD Families and Community,
Happy Earth Week!
Earth Week serves as just one reminder for all of us to remain good stewards of our planet each and every day.
Volunteer Opportunity
ESUSD is looking to fill its seat on the El Segundo Environmental Committee with an eco-minded parent or staff member within our school community. The Committee serves to review existing environmental programs for the City and recommends new environmental related policies and programs for El Segundo in order to reach goals outlined in the Environmental Work Plan and Climate Action Plan. The Committee meets once a month and is composed of three members from the business community, three members from the residential community, and one member from ESUSD. The ESUSD seat is appointed annually in the month of June by the Superintendent.
If you are interested in representing ESUSD on the El Segundo Environmental Committee, please reach out to Dr. Moore through Tracy Adams ([email protected]) by sending an email expressing your interest in serving the school district in this capacity no later than April 30, 2021.
ESUSD Hybrid School Survey Update
I would like to thank the many hybrid school participants who completed the recent ESUSD survey to share their perspectives on expansion of our in-person classroom time. At the April 27th Board meeting, Marisa Janicek, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, will present the ESUSD elementary and secondary parent survey results regarding the potential increase of in-person instruction for elementary and secondary hybrid students in May. In addition, Ali Rabiei, Director of Operations, will discuss the logistical issues required to take place in order to implement this change. The Board will be considering these results and taking possible actions to increase in-person instruction at the elementary and secondary schools. The Board agenda will be posted on Friday, April 23 at 4:00 pm and the public can access the presentation and recommendations through the following link.
ESUSD has remained steadfast in our commitment to safely return students to school and plans to finish the school year strong. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate health orders and assess the next best steps for our students!
With Gratitude,
Melissa Moore, Ed.D.
