Dear El Segundo Families and Staff,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!
As we complete preparations for our first day of school, I wanted to take a moment to extend a warm welcome to all our families and staff—and to share my gratitude that you have chosen the El Segundo Unified School District.
I deeply appreciate our ESUSD educators, who spent considerable time preparing for the upcoming year. They have identified both strengths and areas for growth through our lens of continuous improvement that allows us to collectively build on the strong foundation we have created. Our custodial, maintenance, technology, and clerical teams have worked diligently to ensure each classroom is equipped and ready for students. Together, we will welcome students and celebrate successes and embrace a growth mindset.
To our families, I encourage you to stay actively involved in your student’s education in whatever way you are able. Your involvement truly matters and contributes greatly to your student’s growth and success. Should you have any questions or concerns, I welcome you to reach out.
The new school year brings a time of renewal, hope and optimism. Yesterday, all employees gathered together for our annual All Hands meeting to kick off the new school year. I asked our employees, as they start anew, to think about the question, “What is your hope?” I encourage you to ask this same question of your child, as it will likely evoke an authentic response and feeling of hope regarding the first day of school tomorrow.
Above all, I am honored to begin another year serving the students and families of ESUSD. Our commitment remains to have every student feel seen, heard, supported and loved in a safe, positive inclusive learning environment. Thank you so much for your engagement and support of our district and its students. Let’s have a fantastic school year!
In Partnership,
Dr. Melissa Moore
Superintendent
