December 31, 2020
Dear ESUSD Families and Community,
As we wrap up our final day of 2020, we would like to call to your attention to the fact that on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revised the Safer-At-Home orders, including amendments impacting recreational travel. The revised orders state that any person (child or adult) returning to Los Angeles County from anywhere outside the Southern California Region for non-essential travel after December 30, 2020, must self-quarantine for ten days. The Southern California Region is defined as the counties of Imperial, Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The quarantine starts the day of return to LA County and runs for nine additional days, with a return to essential activities outside the home on the eleventh day.
To review the full details of the revised order and travel directive, please click the link: Temporary Targeted Safer At Home Order (updated 12/30/2020) and Appendix W: Mandatory Directive on Travel.
In-person instruction will resume as planned on Tuesday, January 5, 2020, for grades TK-2 Hybrid students, existing small high needs cohorts, and high school athletic conditioning pods. In addition, The Learning Connection childcare program will also remain operational and return Monday, January 4, 2020. ESUSD will continue to adhere to all provisions for a safe opening of schools as outlined by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
We need to work together to ensure our schools remain healthy spaces for everyone. Thus, it is essential that all families and employees adhere to the LACDPH health orders; if anyone in your household has recently traveled outside the Southern California region, please self-quarantine to help keep students and staff healthy and safe. I would like to remind everyone if someone in your household is showing symptoms, please err on the side of caution and keep your child home. If there is any doubt, use an abundance of caution at all times for the safety of all our staff and students.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and compliance with this ever-evolving situation.
With gratitude that we are in this together,
Melissa Moore, Ed.D.
