The following message from ESUSD Superintendent Melissa Moore was emailed to families today, April 30, 2021, about the start date for increased days of in-person hybrid learning.
Dear ESUSD Families and Community,
I am pleased to announce that we have finalized our plans to increase in-person learning hours for our students next week. Students in grades TK-12 will receive nearly double the amount of hours of in-person instruction. We are currently preparing classrooms and adding furniture to accommodate the increase of students at school.
In preparation for the new program, students in the elementary hybrid program will have a modified schedule Tuesday, May 4th. All elementary students will attend the P.M. session on this day only. Principals will provide further details. Beginning Wednesday, May 5th, elementary hybrid students will begin the extended in-person instruction schedule and attend school Monday through Friday through the end of the school year.
Secondary students in hybrid programs at El Segundo Middle School and El Segundo High School will begin the new in-person schedule beginning Tuesday, May 4th. Students will attend school four days per week, Tuesday through Friday. Principals will send out specific information about schedules and procedures in their weekly communication.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility. We are excited for this change and look forward to seeing our students more frequently to close out the school year.
With gratitude that we are in this together,
Melissa Moore, Ed.D.
Superintendent
El Segundo Unified School District
