With an eye on students who will grace its halls in the not too distant future, El Segundo High School (ESHS) will host its annual 8th Grade & Prospective Families Information Session via WebEx on February 16, 2021, at 6 p.m.

In order to participate, interested students/families must register for the information session via this link: https://bit.ly/3nIArlV

The session is designed to provide an opportunity for 8th grade students, and prospective students new to ESHS, to learn about the many hands-on educational experiences and innovative curriculum available at El Segundo High School intended to marry academic coursework with real-world projects.

“To create a college-going and career-exploring culture, it is important to encourage students and families to start thinking about higher education in middle school,” said ESHS Melissa Gooden. “We want families to experience all that El Segundo High School has to offer well before it is time to register for freshman year.”

Information will be provided about the various academic departments, career exploration pathways, athletics, student clubs and organizations, and more.

ESHS created four linked learning pathways in 2012 to motivate and engage students by connecting challenging academics to demanding career and technical education. Students may opt in as freshman to four pathways:  Business and Entrepreneurship, Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Visual and Performing Arts (fine art, photography, graphic design, drama, screenwriting, music and choral arts).

Students may enroll in a pathway during registration and may try a pathway for one year, and choose a different pathway the following year if their original choice does not meet their future goals or interests.

ESHS also offers a robust Athletics Program with ten sports each for boys and girls, including: football, baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, softball, cross country, track, swimming, water polo and lacrosse.
