Shout out to Ms. Caroline Dawes for her incredible dedication and commitment to serving individuals with special needs!
Her passion and hard work were recognized at the Southwest SELPA Community Advisory Committee Awards Ceremony. Great job, Caroline!

This past week, talented ESHS student interns for the El Segundo Blue Butterfly Conservancy rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with nature at Library Park! Together, they worked hard to glean seeds from native plants, helping preserve and share the beauty of our local ecosystem. 💪🌿
The best part? These seeds are now available for FREE in bins at Library Park for our residents! Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, stop by, grab some seeds, and help grow native beauty in your own backyard.
A big shoutout to this partnership for their dedication to sustainability and their community. 🌟

A big THANK YOU to our amazing PTA and Richmond Street families for coming together to support our El Segundo firefighters as they battle the wildfires. 💙
Your generosity and donations mean so much to those working tirelessly to keep our communities safe!

Shoutout to Carlos Gutierrez, El Segundo USD’s veteran District Technician II! 🖥️ 🎉
Carlos is the backbone of our IT team, bringing dedication, expertise, and innovation to ESUSD. From managing critical technology projects to solving complex issues, his work supports both students and staff every day.
Beyond routine tasks, Carlos actively enhances our tech resources and engages directly with students during Tech Tuesday/Thursday sessions at the Middle School Library.
Thank you, Carlos, for meeting today’s technology needs and helping us stay future-ready!

During last week’s board meeting, CSS Student Council President, Maya, delivered a thoughtful presentation. Her outstanding presentation served as a powerful reminder of the value of student voices in shaping the direction of the district. Great job, Maya!

Mentors and mentees alike benefit from the unique bond they share. Mentors expand their leadership and empathy, while mentees gain invaluable guidance.
Happy National Mentoring Month! 🌟

Welcome back from winter break! Let’s kick off the new year and make it truly FANTASTIC! 🚀✨

Students return to school on Monday, January 6. We’ll see you soon! 👋

Richmond Street 3rd grade students in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) used their coding skills to direct reindeer during a recent activity! 🦌

Our 6th graders recently embarked on an incredible journey at Outdoor Science School—and what an experience it has been! From the moment they stepped off the bus to their return home, they’ve created memories to last a lifetime. 🌿
Students hiked trails, studied ecosystems, and discovered the beauty of the great outdoors. From stream studies to weather lessons, they applied what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world environments, sparking curiosity and a love for science.
Cabin bonding, team challenges, and campfire moments brought students together, strengthening friendships and fostering teamwork.
A little snow and cold weather added a unique twist, creating even more excitement and wonder! ❄️
A huge thank you to the camp staff, teachers, and parents who made this experience possible!

Happy New Year! We wish every student, parent, and staff member a fantastic start to 2025. Let’s make it a year to remember!

Our 2nd graders are math whizzes in the making! Here they are working in small groups, exploring different strategies that teach subtraction. Way to go, Eagles! 🔢

ESHS Principal Gebhart and Dr. Johnson collaborated with the El Segundo Police Department for a safety exercise to ensure that our campuses remain safe and secure. We’re grateful for our strong partnership with local law enforcement! 🚔

Eagles' Nest Preschool has two new programs! 🎶
Mr. Matt Commerce began teaching lessons that combine music and movement. The students had a great time singing, dancing, and moving across the classroom!
Additionally, student interns from ESHS have spent a lot of time bonding with the preschool students. Our young learners are happy to have big kid friends!
It truly takes a village to support our preschool students. Thank you to everyone who helps out! 🙏

Every year, our preschool students head over to the El Segundo Fire Station for a visit—as well as to donate to their sparks of love drive!
The team at the station also talked to the students about fire safety. They put on their full gear so students know what the staff looks like when they’re saving people in dangerous fires.
In the end, everyone got to sit behind the wheel of a big rig for a photo! 🚒

Thank you to everyone who joined the SKECHERS Walk back in October. Because of our amazing kids, Ms. Ahrens was sprayed with SIX cans of silly string at our last assembly! 🎉
Great job, Cougars—let's see if we can top it next year!

Today marks the start of Kwanzaa—a celebration of family, community, and culture. Best wishes to all those celebrating in the coming days!

Happy Hanukkah to all celebrating in our community! May this festival of lights fill your homes with peace and the warmth of family traditions. 🕎
