Wellness Centers at ESMS and ESHS are intentionally designed to be calming and soothing spaces. One aspect of this is biophilic design that uses green spaces and plant life which have proven calming qualities.

ESUSD teacher on special assignment for the 2024-25 school year, Dr. Phuong Uzoff, has been selected as a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for the SECOND time!
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest honor for K-12 STEM educators in the U.S., recognizing exceptional teaching in math and science. Dr. Phuong Uzoff, a state finalist for California, was selected for her innovative teaching strategies and dedication to integrating STEM and environmental science. Through hands-on, student-centered learning experiences, she fosters deep engagement, elevating her students’ understanding and achievement in mathematics, science, and environmental issues.
California state finalists will be honored at the California Department of Education's California Science Education Conference, November 8-10, 2024, in Sacramento.

The Garden Buddy Program at Richmond Street has begun! 🌱
Every Monday buddies explore, plant, taste, and discover in our beautiful growing garden. Last week was 4th grade & Kindergarten buddies!
Social interactions and student connections are at the heart of the preschool day. We facilitate friend-making skills, you-sharing skills, and problem solving among peers. Teachers scaffold learning and support problem solving.
The result is students who find their first friends and partners in play! 🙌
